| چکیده مقاله |
| The discipline of geography is undergoing a profound transformation driven by the convergence of next-generation remote sensing (RS), sophisticated Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and disruptive Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. This paper argues that the integration of this "geospatial technology triad" into geography education is no longer merely an enhancement but a fundamental necessity for developing spatially literate, critical, and future-ready citizens and professionals. We explore the unique contributions of each component: new RS platforms (drones/UAVs, nano-satellites, hyperspectral sensors) provide unprecedented high-resolution, real-time, and accessible Earth observation data; modern cloud-based and Web GIS (e.g., ArcGIS Online, open-source QGIS) enable collaborative, platform-agnostic spatial analysis and storytelling; and AI techniques (machine learning, computer vision, deep learning) automate the extraction of patterns and insights from massive, complex geospatial datasets. The paper examines innovative pedagogical applications, such as student-led drone mapping projects for local environmental monitoring, AI-assisted land use/land cover classification exercises, and the use of virtual/augmented reality for immersive terrain exploration. Despite the immense potential, significant challenges exist, including curricular inertia, the rapid pace of technological change, equity in access, data privacy concerns, and the need for substantial faculty training. The paper concludes with a forward-looking perspective, advocating for a revised geography curriculum that moves beyond software training to foster critical geospatial thinking, ethical reasoning in the age of AI, and competencies in solving complex, real-world problems through the integrated use of these powerful tools. |
